Formal Inauguration of the 13th Session of GKFTII by Rajesh Tailang

The thirteenth session of Gulshan Kumar Film & Television Institute of India, GKFTII, started as a low key event with a modest number of students, keeping the COVID-19 protocol in mind. The Chief guest was Mr Rajesh Tailang, a renowned actor (National School of Drama (NSD)alumni) and a known face of theatre and films.

His recent film was well received by the audience. Besides doing TV serial and plays, he takes a keen interest in teaching ‘acting’. He inspired the students and shared his experience with honesty. Some of his films includes, ‘Mirzapur’, Selection Day, Daily Crime, Crack Down, ‘Chatri Wali’, ‘Khuda Hafis’, etc. Prof. Shantanu Bose, Ex-Dean of National School of Drama too addressed the students through his simple short speech. Dr Deepti, Vice President of TSA and GKFTII addressed the students and emphasized upon the need of discipline in this field. Prof Kalyan Sarkar, Dean, GKFTII through his powerful address took them through the life of the founder of T-Series Sri Gulshan Kumar. Prof Sarkar particularly reminded the audience that how Sri Gulshan Kumar bailed out the dying film industry in early eighties.

The irony was that once the same film industry had rejected him but he reappeared on the horizon once again and with his determination, perseverance and hard work not only became successful but also gathered enough strength to bring out the rag-tag film industry out of the rubbles. His untimely demise left a dream unrealized. He had visualized of an affordable film school of repute that would pave the way for the entry into the industry and make it easier for new talents. Mrs Sudesh Kumari, Director, took the reins in her hands to fulfill this education initiative.

The Directors Mr Hitesh Ralhan and Mrs Tulsi Kumar were conspicuous by their absence. Mr Hitesh was busy with an urgent meeting while Mrs Tulsi Kumar was shooting. Students asked many questions and the guests answered patiently. At the end,Prof Kalyan Sarkar blessed the students and wished them success to realize their dreams.
