Documentary Film Making

Since the dawn of cinema, documentaryfilms have shaped and interpreted factual material for purposes of education or entertainment. The biggest deciding factor in documentary’s success is the subject chosen. All other aspects of documentary planning, production and post-production will be tailored to best explain documentary subject’s story. The documentary-style film, though, had been popular from the earliest days of filmmaking, but its understanding has been constrained for various reasonsresulting in a strange glitch between filmmaking practice and the teaching of it.

We at Gulshan Kumar Journalism & Media Institute of India try to make a small move to rectify this. Our aim is to nurture a re-understanding, a re-interpretation of cinematic practices where the reality around us becomes our ground for creation and expression. With an unrivaled approach to hands-on, interactive learning, students find themselves completely immersed in their course of study from day one. Classes are taught by industry professionals, in a real-world environment with state-of-the-art facilities and equipment.

GKJMII is a place to learn not just filmmaking, but a little more about who you are. We encourage our students to research, sharpen their insights and articulate their own points of view, as a way of searching for their individual voice.
